The Secret of Effective Communications

Motivational Power Quote

The Secret of Effective Communications
“Talk to people about themselves
and they will listen for hours.”
Benjamin Disraeli, British Prime Minister

As I see it. . . . . . . .

The secret of effective communications

The secret of effective communications is actively listening eighty percent of the time and speaking and asking questions with a purpose twenty percent of the time.

Effective communicators are proactive listener that are able to freely exchange and gather information. They gain rapport with the person they are communicating with as a result of their ability to listen with empathy. As an effective communicator they build rapport with the other person and establish a common bond of trust.

As a proactive listener you engage the person and encourage them to speak by asking question and proactively listening to what they are saying. Asking open ended questions to encourages the person to communicate and to talk about themselves and their interests.

We gain control of the communication not by speaking but through the act of proactive listening.

The secret of effective communication is to listen and to understand the other person, their needs and their motivation.
