Motivational Power Quote
The Greatest Challenge in
Communications
“The
problem with communication is the illusion that
it has occurred.”
George Bernard Shaw 1856 - 1950, Irish Playwright
As I see it. . . . . . . .
The greatest challenge in communications .
. . .
Are you communicating . . . . or
talking?
Are you talking . . . . and not
listening?
Good communication is an interactive
skill where information is exchanged between the parties to create a mutual understanding
among the parties.
The best communicators . . . . are the best listener because they are
listening to understand and they focus on the other person and what they are
saying and their needs. An effective listener will listen 80% of the time and
speak with a purpose to gather information 20% of the time.
A good listener creates rapport and will
build a strong bond in their business relationships.
It’s important to understand the other
person, and their expectations are in the communications. Your role is to meet or
to exceed their expectations and to communicate at a level they can understand
and accept.
The greatest challenge in communication
. . . . is to be a great listener.
