Doing our best is not a maybe . . . . or a sometime thing. It’s a personal commitment to be the best that you can be . . . . and in doing your best in the tasks that you undertake.

1972 was a very special year for Mark Spitz.

Mark Spitz won seven goal metals in the 1972 Munich Olympic Games and was recognized as an Olympic Champion. During the 1972 Olympic Games Mark did his best . . . . and was recognized for his commitment to excellence in being the winner of seven gold medals for excellence in his events.

Champions are made far from the arena . . . .

During the 1972 Munich Olympic Games Mark Spitz was recognized for his commitment to doing his best.

His gold metals where awarded to Mark at the games for his excellence, but he won the metals with his commitment to doing his best many miles away from Munich.

For many years Mark made a commitment to personal excellences . . . .  and conditioned himself to be a winner and champion. Through the years of hard work to become the best, Mark’s toughest critic was Mark. He had to push himself to become the best. He pushed himself to be the best even when no one was watching . . . . and no one was around pushing him. 

He knew that to be the best it had to come from inside of him. He understood that other could push him . . . .  but to become a champion he had to push his limits and himself. 

When mark won the seven gold medals at that the Olympics he made it look easy.

With his years of preparation and dedication to do his best when he actually participated in his events at the Olympics he was physically . . . .  and mentally prepared to win. He had prepared for those events in his mind thousands of times . . . . and his commitment to doing his best made it look easy.

Champion in sports and in life earn the right to be called Champion . . . .  Be committed to do your best everyday of your life . . . . and when you do your best you will stand in the winner’s circle of life.

Character differentiates the champion

Champions separate themselves in their profession from the masses . . . .

A champion wants to standout above the crowd and they will look for and find degrees of separation that will propel them to the top of their field and keep them there.

A champion’s goal is not only to get to the top of the mountain but once they get there is to stay there. They will look for ways to create a cutting edge advantages that will keep them at the top.

To have a successful and study climb to the top mountain a champions has a vision . . . . goals . . . . a plan . . . . and the endurance to successfully achieve their goals. To stay at the top of their profession a champion has to have character.

When we look at politicians, entertainers and professional athletes that reach the top of their profession . . . . and them you see them fall from the top of their profession. Far too many times their fall from grace is result of them compromising their character.

It takes hard work and dedication to become a leader in our chosen profession and it take even harder work to stay at the top.

Character differentiates champions . . . .  it takes character to succeed and to get to the top of your professional . . . . and it takes character to keep you at the top.

A champion can see themselves standing . . . . in the winner’s circle of life and achieving their goals.

The champion won’t leave things to chance . . . . and prepares themselves both physically and mentally to succeed. They have a deep determination to succeed and they see their preparation as the stepping stones that will take them successful across the finish line.

They won’t become side tracked by their challenges or obstacles . . . . they view them as tolls to be paid to reach their objections.

Champions have a strong self-image of who . . . . they are as a person and in what they accomplish. They will go into their day with a sense of direction and a sense of purpose.

When you speak with a champion they a matter of fact type of person and they speak and act with confidence.

The self-image of a champion . . . . is that they believe in themselves and they demonstrate it through their actions.

When we watch at successful athlete playing or in their venue they make what they do look easy. No matter what the sport is a successful athlete spends endless hours in preparing themselves to succeed. They may run hundreds of miles to prepare themselves to success run a sprint that takes less then a minute.

A professional golfer hits thousands of golf balls to perfect their skills to become better. People who succeed in their field are committed to become better and elevating their skills to the level of a champion.

Success is hard work that most people will never see what the successful person does to master their profession. What they see is a winner making it look easy.

What looks easy on game day is the result of the commitment to hard work and the dedication to continued improvement them self in practice when no one is there to cheer them on.   

Prepare to succeed, prepare to win but always be prepared to give your best.
