When You’re Negotiating
“Whenever you get into a jam, whenever you get into a
crisis
or an emergency, become the calmest person in the room
and you’ll be able to figure your way out of it.”
Rudolph Giuliani, Mayor of New York
As I see it. . . . . . . .
When you’re negotiating
Remain the calmest person in the room .
. . .
When you’re facing a problem of any
magnitude . . . . remain the calmest person in the room.
In the mist of negotiating remain clam .
. . . and keep your emotions under control . . . . and remain the calmest person
in the room.
In negotiating as in solving problems it
takes composure . . . . understanding of the issues . . . . and calmness of
purpose to achieve a successful conclusion.
Overreaction creates confusion and a
lack of focus to resolve the issue; it will also cloud your thinking and
decision making. This will create a large gap in coming to a successful result
that moves you in the wrong direction.
Calmness allows us to seek successful
solutions, remain focused on the outcome and to stay on purpose.
When you’re negotiating remain the
calmest person in the room . . . . and you will carve out a strategic advantage
in creating successful outcomes.
